What is Magic Updater Multi-Site Manager?

By bringing together the capabilities of Magic Updater and XML RPC technology, Magic Updater Multi-site Manager is able to monitor and update Joomla Core Version of multiple websites Remotely from a Central Control Panel. This capability saves a huge time and effort from Webmasters who manage multiple Joomla based websites.

The product consists of a Component and a Plug-in. The Component should be installed where you want to have your Central Control Panel. It can even be installed on the local host. The Plug-in should be installed on each of the websites you want to monitor and manage named Client Websites. It is important to mention that because the Plug-in uses XML RPC technology, Web Services should be activated on those websites.

Afterwards, you should create username/passwords (Not with Administrative Access) on the client websites and insert these username passwords in the central control panel. Then the component displays the Current Version of the Joomla Core on each website and gives you the ability to update any of them if needed. Another important point is that this product supports Custom Updates through custom URLs you enter in the control panel. This feature is very desirable for those Webmasters who want to keep their personalized customizations on Joomla Core intact.

Magic Updater Multi Site manager is an extension that helps you update your joomla installations remotely from a central control panel.

3- How does Magic Updater Multi Site Manager work?
This product consists of a component which serves as the central control panel and a plugin which should be installed on remote sites. The component uses xmlrpc technology to communicate with the plugin installed on the remote sites.

4- I see this message: ‘plugin not installed or not enabled’ in my control panel. What should I do?
You should check these steps one by one:
Check if the plugin is installed and enabled. Then go to the remote site control panel and go to global configuration and in the system tab select Yes for enable web services.

5- I see this message: ‘username/password error’ in my control panel. What should I do?
You should check to see if you entered a valid username/password of the remote site in your central control panel.

6- What permissions should the username I enter in the central control panel from the remote website have?
It is recommended that you enter a username with the minimum access to your remote website because this user is only used for authentication. It is strongly recommended not to use a username with administrative privileges.

7- What is the custom url parameter on the plugin page installed on the remote sites?
This option is for professional users who like to edit the core of the joomla installation and use it to update all their websites. These users can add the url to the custom installation zip file and when the update button in the control panel is clicked, this file will be used to update the websites.

8- How can I add a new website to my list?
You should click on the New button on the top left of your control panel and enter the name of your website without http:// and then add a valid username and password on that website.

9- What are the websites shown in another color?
These are your websites in which the version is outdated and needs your attention.

10- My control panel loads slowly. What should I do?
This is because you have many websites added to your control panel. The first time the component runs it tries to connect to all of your websites and get their version. This version is kept until the next day and the next time you run your control panel it will run very fast. You can always ask the control panel to refresh the version of a particular website by clicking the refresh button in front of the website name in the table.
